Back to the Blue…

Since I attended my very first taster workshop with Jane Callender at The Festival of Quilts in 2005 I have been absolutely in love with indigo.

The skills and knowledge needed to make all the elements work, the right pH, quantity of indigo and method to remove the oxygen for the vat, all these work together to create this incredible colour that is revered around the world.

I love that each culture across the globe has its own species of plant, special recipes and techiques to coax the colour from the leaves, powder, paste or compost.

New beginnings under a blue sky means time to revisit my tacit knowledge and continue my journey of exploration…
